Helping children move beyond limits
What I love about working with the Feldenkrais method of learning with children is that it lets us meet the child where they are at. There is a wholesome focus on who they are, and not on their individual challenges or disabilities.
When we engage with children where their interest and curiosity lies we are enabling their learning. By connecting to their exploration we can discover the places where bits of learning and self knowledge are not so well defined and help them to fill in the gaps. Their achievements and success affirm their own innate wisdom and intelligence …. learning becomes a joyful experience .
There are a growing number of Feldenkrais resources in this area becoming available on the Internet. The accompanying video outlining Anat Baniel’s work with children is quite instructional.
